Acne scar revision
Usually scars require combination of various modalities of treatment. Each patient is unique and the common treatments that are available include subcision, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, dermaroller, cryotherapy, fillers and lasers.
-
Subcision: Subcision is a simple surgical procedure that is used for treatment of depressed acne scars. Subcision is performed under local anesthesia (topical or injectable). It can easily be combined with other treatments such as laser, dermaroller for maximum efficacy.
-
Chemical peels: Chemical peeling is a technique used to reduce scarring and improve the appearance of the skin. Depth of the peeling (Superficial, medium or deep) is decided based on the type of scar tissue and skin.
-
Microdermabrasion: Microdermabrasion is safe option with no downtime for treatment of scars anywhere on the body. It can be combined with other procedures for quicker results.
-
Dermaroller: It has special medical graded stainless steel needles that perforate the scar tissue easily. The scars become softer, leveled out and in most cases give a natural appearance.
-
Lasers: Both ablative and nonablative laser resurfacing have been effective in treating facial scarring. Ablative laser resurfacing targets and vaporizes water-containing tissue, thereby allowing epidermal renewal as well as the reorientation and regeneration of collagen fibers in the superficial dermis.
